Volunteer

You don't need to be an expert. You need to be patient, kind, and comfortable saying “let's try that again.” Everything is remote, so you can help from anywhere in the country.

Ways to help

  • Remote tech helper

Talk someone through a fix by phone, text, or video. If you've ever helped a relative with their phone, you already have the skills.

    Time: 2 to 4 hours a month

  • Intake and scheduling

Read new requests, reply warmly, and match people with a helper. Organized and kind beats technical here.

    Time: 1 to 2 hours a week

  • Guide writer

Turn common fixes into short, plain-language guides for our Resources page. Screenshots welcome.

    Time: Flexible

  • Translator

We're English only at launch. Help us get ready to serve people in Spanish and other languages.

What to expect

  1. You sign up below. A coordinator emails you within a few days.
  2. A short video chat to talk about what you’d like to do.
  3. An identity check. We help people who are vulnerable, so we verify every volunteer. There is no charge to you.
  4. A 45-minute online orientation, then you shadow a session before running your own.

Our ground rules are simple: never ask for passwords, never judge, never rush. If you can do those three things, you’ll be great at this.
